About Us

Dolma Dog Rescue is a non-profit dedicated to helping stray dogs in need of medical treatment and care in Bylakuppe, a Tibetan settlement in South India.

The rescue house was founded by Tsering Dolma, who started caring for stray dogs in need of help which eventually lead her to start the rescue house as the number of dogs increased. Dolma is originally from Bylakuppe, now based in the US and has been funding the rescue house with her savings since 2018. Her brother Kalsang works as the administrator and looks after DDR's daily operations along with other staff members.

DDR is now a safe haven for over more than 100 dogs and it has appointed a veterinarian that comes in twice a week or during emergency cases. Since it’s opening, DDR has also provided care for dogs from local residents’ homes of Bylakuppe area aside from rescuing strays. From providing low cost vaccines, treating wounded dogs, and nursing dogs with illnesses like parvovirus, we have managed to operate the center with the help of our staff, volunteers, and donors.
