What We Do
-
Rescue
When local residents call us about an injured or sick stray dog, we show up to rescue and bring them to DDR for treatment and care. The cases we come across often include distemper/parvovirus infection, sarcoptic/demodectic mange and canine transmissible venereal tumours. Other common cases include infected wounds, leg fractures due to road traffic accidents, various skin conditions and diseases.
-
Treatment
Aside from treating wounded/sick strays at the rescue center, we offer low cost treatment and vaccines for dogs for the local residents of Bylakuppe. Our main vet comes on a weekly basis to ensure that all the dogs at DDR are assessed carefully of their health. In the case of an emergency treatment that requires surgery or needs in-depth care by an animal hospital, we travel to Mysore city to an animal hospital we trust.
-
Adoption
Caring for a pet is a lifelong commitment, therefore if you have the means/energy to care for a rescue dog, then we will gladly assist you in the adoption process. Most of our dogs at the rescue house were born as strays and abused, so they will need an ample amount of time to settle at a new home. Because of that, we usually prioritize locals who are interested in adopting.
-
Free Anti-Rabies Vaccine
We offer FREE Anti-Rabies Vaccination once every year for pets on World Rabies Day. Anyone can simply bring in their pets for vaccination without any charge. We also do anti-rabies vaccination to stray dogs as well. So far we have done vaccination runs around the area of Coorg, Hunsur, Bylakuppe, Piriyapatna, Somwarpet, Virajpet, and Kushalnagar.
